Reynelle Brown Staley is the founding Executive Director of ASAS Philadelphia, responsible for bringing ASAS’ mission, vision and programs to the students of Philadelphia. Prior to joining ASAS Philadelphia, Reynelle managed efforts to promote equal rights and opportunities within Philadelphia as Deputy Director of the Philadelphia Commission on Human Relations. At the Commission, she spearheaded a number of capacity building efforts, including overhauling the agency’s laws, policies and procedures, designing a dispute resolution program and establishing strategic partnerships with local organizations and universities.
A native of Harlem, Reynelle knows firsthand the impact that high-quality academic opportunities can have for students in the poorest of neighborhoods. She is a graduate of Yale University, Harvard Kennedy School and Harvard Law School and was a Coro Fellow in Public Affairs. Reynelle began her career as a litigation associate at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP, where her work included a successful landmark challenge to the public education funding system in New York State.
