In 2010, Fox Sports Ohio originally partnered with ASAS Ohio because they believed in our Sports As A Hook initiative, instruction that focused on fighting childhood obesity and educating youth about healthy lifestyle choices. However, FSO soon discovered they could make a bigger impact by opening their world of sports to our students.
Led by Senior Vice President and General Manager of FSO, Francois McGillicuddy, Kate Zelasko and Leah Herman, the FSO leadership offered several alternative ways to inspire and celebrate our kids. First, they introduced the world of broadcast journalism to our students. Our All-Stars toured production studios in both their Cleveland headquarters, and in their mobile production trucks at Nationwide Arena in Columbus. Students met On-Air talent and asked questions about careers in broadcasting. After the tours, the kids were treated to a hockey game!
During the holidays, FSO held a toy drive for our students in their Cleveland office. Employees wrapped and donated new toys, books, and much needed winter gear. They also visited school sites with one of their partners, Dunkin Donuts, and delivered winter hats and scarves, along with hot chocolate.
Staying true to their mission to promote health and fitness, they continued to promote events with ASAS Ohio, like National Girls & Women in Sports Day, NBA Math Hoops, and Camp Hoop Heroes.
The generosity of the Fox Sports Ohio organization is a direct reflection of its leadership. All year long they found creative and meaningful ways to make a positive impact on our students! Thank you, Fox Sports Ohio, for being a true partner of All-Stars!
